Why training with SKN Deep Institute?
Most in person trainings are a day long in group settings; some offer the opportunity to practice on a generic case for 15 to 30 minutes on a model or a colleague/student. Some trainings only offer practices on fruit skin and/or latex sheets meanwhile online trainings lack the possibility of constructive supervision. Needling scars is an advanced treatment that should be taken seriously. Scar needling can be cosmetic, medical and/or surgical depending on the complexity of the case. Practitioners and trainers generally use the same settings and technique to treat atrophic, hypertrophic and normotrophic scars, but in between there’re a variety of possibilities that need to be addressed accordingly to avoid under stimulation and/or excessive unnecessary trauma that can lead to undesired results.
SKN Deep Institute provides one on one masterclasses to make sure our trainees understand the methodology we use to do our skin scar needling treatments. The trainer works at the trainees’ pace, this means that each training day will take from 9 to 13+ hours working together. During the first part of the program our students receive their study manual and thru a digital presentation they learn the theory that will later be applied on the procedures. They’re closely monitored during practices on 12+ carefully selected cases so they can experience the visual signs and touch cues we use when choosing the equipment and techniques to do the treatments. These cases take between 30 minutes to 1.5 hours each; the combination of the corrections done during their supervised practices give students the essential information and tools to troubleshoot scars on their own. Having a dedicated trainer working beside trainees allows close guidance on how to improve bedside manners, scar analysis, BBP safety, techniques, corrections of areas that have been missed or under-stimulated to avoid waiting until the next session to work on it. This is the most important factor for the success of acquiring the skills from our method that will allow the new practitioners to restructure scar safely and in minimum time. Cosmetic and medical cases are seeing during training and students get the opportunity to learn how to treat specific medical cases using mediums to restructure scars faster and stimulate melanin production in cases of hypopigmentation without pigments/inks. These are protocols that are necessary for practitioners that would like to work alongside dermatologists and plastic surgeons in the future as we do at SKN Deep Institute in Bangkok.
What happens during training?
Trainings are 3+ consecutive days, some trainees books extra days for practices to build a larger portfolio. The student meets with the trainer everyday at 8 am at their studio or the studio in Bangkok where they start working right away. On the first day our students learn the theory on skin-scars-wound healing, needling techniques, how we do consultations, the forms we use and case analysis; we put an emphasis on understanding and distinguishing which cases shouldn’t be treated with dry tattooing as they may need surgical revision, radiation and/or injections. This guidance allows our customers to find the appropriate treatment for their affliction saving them time and money. We aim for ethical practices so we won’t offer treatments that won’t positively impact our customers’ lives.
Trainees learn the thought process on how we create needling plans and why we choose different approaches. They learn our scar management protocols to guide customers thru the different stages of their scars’ healing process and they have the possibility to receive a treatment from the trainer to experience at first hand what it feels like during treatment and while healing; this allows to give a better explanation to customers.
Second and third day are dedicated to supervised practices on live models. Before each needling treatment starts the trainer checks that all the equipment and tools have been set up properly to work safely and avoid cross-contamination. All treatments are closely supervised to make sure the trainee acquires the right habits and skills. This builds confidence on our students to work on their own and allows for a precise practice obtaining faster improvements on scars.
To make sure our student can focus on the treatments pictures and videos are taken by the trainer and given back to the trainee at the end of the training to use as reference, for the models’ files, to start building their own portfolio and for social media purposes.
After the training is completed trainees receive online support whenever they need to consult about their cases and have up to 3 months to complete a private test. Those who pass the test will be listed as representatives of the service on a dedicated website for the new advanced scar needling treatment that will be published once the TM is finalized.

- Be a tattoo/PMU artist, esthetician, registered nurse or medical doctor.
- Have an up to date insured studio and bloodborne pathogens certification.
- Have a practice in the beauty/health industry for at least one year.
- Show real interest in working on cases that may be emotionally challenging but rewarding during the interview.

Does SKN Deep’s training program include a tattooing kit?
The program doesn’t include a kit. The trainer provides her tattooing equipment for students to use during supervised practices so they get to experience the difference each setting makes when treating scars.
Does SKN Deep Institute sell supplies?
SKN Deep doesn’t sell equipment nor supplies of any kind because we believe in the freedom of buying the brands each practitioner prefers. This means they’re not obliged to obtain the materials from us to be able to provide service and achieve results. We work with tattooing equipment from famous companies around the world that have the best settings for what we do. Using this equipment allows us to work with universal cartridges that are easily accessible at most tattoo supply stores without having to worry about possible shortage, delivery delays, customs fees, discontinued products or companies going broke. Our trainees receive a list of the equipment and supplies we use for treatments to work safely and efficiently, they get to experience them throughout their training practices as we guide them on how we use them correctly.
Because some customers have preferences on the gender of the professionals they would feel more comfortable to receive treatment from due to the location of their scars we aim to train practitioners of different genders. Three months after completing their training practitioners have an exam based on the material provided in their manual and practices. Those practitioners of each gender that pass the test will have the exclusivity of a 15 mile radius from the listed studio in their contract. This means no other practitioner of the same gender will be trained closer than 30 miles from said place.
Giving the exclusivity of an area to practitioners allows us to follow their work closely and gives us the possibility to refer customers helping them grow their business.
By the end of May 2022 our new USA trademark will be finalized and extended internationally. The trainees of this new advanced scar needling program that pass the private test will be listed on the dedicated treatment website and social media channels as service providers and will be the only practitioners legally allowed to use the name of our method to help restructure skin scars with tattooing equipment. Because of health departments and insurances regulations they’ll receive 3 different certificates that indicate what they’ve been trained for to avoid complications.
There are two annual training tours happening per year, in spring (April – May) and fall (September – October to mid November). Only 24 one on one trainings are available per year during those tours around the world. Dates and location are organized with the trainees before signing the contracts. Because of the limited trainings available per year it’s advisable to contact SKN Deep as soon as you have checked with your local health department if you can legally provide the service and you’re 100% committed.

We’ll send you a questionnaire and we’ll follow up with a phone call to make sure we’re the right fit for each other. If no tours are happening by the time you wish to train with us or your location is not in the countries we’re visiting there’s the possibility of booking our training at a different time of the year* or to train in Bangkok. Due to the preparation needed for each training it’s advisable to book your training with a minimum of 45 days in advanced.
Once we organize the dates you’ll receive 2 contracts stating the program, dates, location, payment information and obligations for both parties. To book your training there’s u$s1,500 non-refundable deposit which saves the dates for your training and is used for booking flights and accommodation. If you wish to postpone your training outside Bangkok for any particular reason and the date of your request is 6 or more weeks prior to the dates stated in your contract we will possibly be able to reschedule your training to another tour**. Any costs of flights, transportation and accommodation that have already incurred will have to be compensated but you won’t lose the entire deposit. Any change of dates requested 6 weeks or less from your training dates outside Bangkok may result in the forfeit of the full deposit. If the trainer for any reason cannot make it to your destination you’ll receive the full refund of money received to that date.

Supervised practices on 12+ models during training to assess consultation, treatment/technique applied and aftercare. Online private support on clients cases via email, messenger and/or Whatsapp. Certification of attendance. Those who pass the private evaluation become representatives in their local area– $13500USD* via wire transfer.
- Dry Tattooing Training – Worldwide: 3 consecutive days one on one, full theory, diagnosis, evaluation of cases and techniques. Manual and forms. A treatment provided by trainer Virginia Landolfi. Supervised practices on 12+ models during training to assess consultation, treatment/technique applied and aftercare. Online private support on clients cases via email, messenger or Whatsapp. Certification of attendance. Those who pass the private evaluation become representatives in their local area – 14700USD** via wire transfer. Students have to find the models to work on and provide basic disposable materials including numbing cream. Trainer will bring her own tattooing equipment that can be used by the student. Manual is included.
- Additional Practice day/s: available for students that request extra day/s to work on more cases to build a solid portfolio.

Full payment is required to start the training. Failure to do so will result in forfeiting your deposit.
Training fees cannot be transferred to another person without permission from SKN Deep Institute. No refund or rescheduling is available if the trainee doesn’t attend or doesn’t complete the scheduled training. In the unlikely event training is cancelled by SKN Deep Bangkok a refund or the possibility to reschedule the training will be offered.
Paying for training does not guarantee a certification of any kind, nor the possibility to be listed in our social media or use our trademark, nor being listed as a representative of your area. Certificates are only awarded to those trainees that meet our required standards of learning. If our standards have not been met but you still want to be a SKN Deep representative in your area, additional training will be required at an additional cost.
I have completed a lot of training sessions in my time and I found Virginia Landolfi to be one of the best. She is a wealth of information and more then happy to share that with you. I had burn scars on my leg that were 25 years old. They’re dark, flaky and dry. They weren’t big but to me they’re very visible.
